reThink :: Conference 08

I have had the distinct privilege of attending the 2008 reThink conference, inspired by Steve Wright’s book reThink. This is the first of what I hope to be many conferences to come in the future from InQuest. The pastors of Providence Baptist Church were all a great blessing in their preaching today, as well as Dr. Randy Stinson from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I believe that Christ was honored, God was glorified, and the Holy Spirit was active in the hearts of His people.

As with every conference, one of the greatest blessings is having the opportunity to fellowship with and be encouraged by so many different people. I was especially blessed to hear from about a dozen different people that read Reforming Students with regularity that I was unaware of! Everyone was incredibly gracious and encouraging. I got a lot more time with my good friend Mike Hall, executive director of InQuest Ministries, and blogger at Two Institutions. I had some great conversations with Alex Chediak (who also live-blogged the entire conference), who I was able to share 3 meals with. I talked with Deb Burton, Blake Hickman, Chris Graves, and Steve Wright throughout the day. There were several more, of course, and I’m sorry I am unable to remember all the names, but if we talked, please leave a comment and say hey!

I am also blessed to have been accompanied by Sam Barber, one of the graduating seniors from our Ephesus Student Ministry and Tommy Peterson, pastor to students at Grace Community Church in Rincon, GA. Additionally, one of the fathers from our student ministry team, Steve Thompson, met us here and hung out with us for the day. You can read his daughter Alli’s blog at Girls For Truth. Last, but certainly not least, I’d like to publicly thank the Roberts family for their very gracious hospitality. We were certainly blessed to have a beautiful home to stay in with such a great family!

Driving back to Savannah in the morning… I miss my wife. And our greyhound, Gangster.
